Cwmcarn DH track renovation

In anticipation of the upcoming 2018 HSBC National Downhill Series, Natural Resources Wales were seeking a contractor to redesign and renovate the lower section of the classic Y Mynydd downhill mountain bike track in Cwmcarn forest. The project involved addressing erosion and drainage issues while simultaneously raising the standard of the track to contemporary benchmarks. Works were completed within two weeks.

Not only has this work prepared the track for the upcoming race season but it has also boosted the appeal of the track to the end user. The Cwmdown Uplift Service has been fully booked every weekend since opening and videos and photos of the track have been flooding social media among local rider groups.

Langstone Pumptrack

As part of the redevelopment of the play area in Centenary Field, Langstone Community Council appointed Back On Track to install a modular pumptrack in the park. As a suitable hard standing was already present on the site, the delivery and installation of the pumptrack was completed in a single day. The addition of a modular pumptrack to the play area in Centenary Field is a welcome change to the standard more conventional play equipment traditionally installed.

Popty Ping – BikePark Wales

In line with BikePark Wales’ on-going trail development plans we designed and built “Popty Ping”, a Blue Plus graded intermediate jump trail, to complement their existing Red Plus and Black Plus graded jump trails. The trail construction was completed during the five weeks leading up to Christmas 2016, on a challenging site that had multiple areas of poor ground. The trail is 550m long and has a high concentration of large berms and jumps.

Lucan Pumptrack

Fingal County Council appointed Back On Track to design and build a tarmac pumptrack to fit alongside an existing National standard BMX track. The design allowed for a track with 200m of riding length to be fitted into an area that is 32m by 34m. The construction of the track was completed to a high standard within the four-week deadline.

This pumptrack is a great addition to the existing facilities and provides a stepping-stone that allows beginners to progress onto the larger BMX track while simultaneously being used to hone expert level riders’ skillsets.

Bike Park Ireland Blue Jump Trail

As a successful and growing business, Bike Park Ireland is continually investing in its infrastructure. Two years after completing the initial build stage of Bike Park Ireland, Back On Track were asked to design and build a Blue Plus graded jump trail to complement the existing array of trails at the park. Limited by budget and time, the build process needed to run smoothly to execute a quality product.

The end result is a jump trail that flows fluidly down the picturesque hillside. It is the ideal track for riders to learn to jump on and to develop the skills needed to enjoy the existing Red graded advanced jump trail.
